The Medical Room’s Biomedical Technical Training
The Medical Room’s vocational biomedical technical training courses are the only competency-based, practical hands-on training courses available in Australia, NZ and the Pacific designed to teach Biomedical Technicians and Engineers the theory and practice of testing and maintaining medical and dental devices.
The Medical Room’s training courses are designed to provide learners with the essential knowledge and skills to support medical devices safely and effectively. These courses are vendor neutral courses; during practical sessions a variety of makes and models of devices are available to provide an understanding of the clinical application, common features & engineering design, and overview of standard performance verification tests for the device range. Courses include both e-learning and a practical face-to-face session (from ½ day to 5 days in duration).
The training is currently delivered in stand-alone units that include both the theoretical and practical learning for the particular topic or device type and is specifically designed to provide learners with the competencies they require for the effective support of medical devices found in hospitals, health care centres, dental clinics and other clinical environments. Learners will gain an understanding of:
- How to work safely in the clinical and technical environments
- How medical equipment is used safely in the clinical environment
- Relevant physiology for the medical equipment type and its function
- How to maintain, test and repair medical equipment, including hands-on practical sessions with the relevant medical devices and test equipment.
